The core of the Giustiniani collection was meticulously restored. 60 out of the original 600 pieces will be on display for the first time in Palazzo Giustiniani, the seat of Italy’s Parliament. Curated by Silvia Danesi Squarzina, the exhibition is a tribute to the artists of the 17th century. The works on display include Lotto, Veronese and Cambiasi, as well as Caravaggio, Jusepe de Ribera, Van Baburen, Valentin de Boulogne and Nicolas Regnier. Annibale Carracci, Pietro Testa, Claude Lorrain and Nicolas Poussin’s works are also on display. 15 paintings by Francesco Albani that were thought to be lost are also on display.
