Baselitz is one of the most acclaimed and versatile artists of the post-war period. He has skillfully interpreted some of the great tragedies of the part, and is also a connoisseur of Italian art and in particular of Mannerism. In this exhibition he presents two gigantic sculptures in bronze and enamel entitled Volk Thing Zero, which is three meters tall and have a combined weight of two tons. The sculptures allude to an icon of classical modern art, Rodin's Thinker, as well as to the primitive art that inspired European avant-garde movements.
