The days of Rome. The Age of Balance

The exhibition is the third installment of a five-year project that features exhibitions dedicated to Rome’s long history, from the Republican era to the late-ancient era. The exhibition, curated by Eugenio La Rocca and Claudio Parisi Presicce with Annalisa Lo Monaco, explores the period between 98 and 180 AD, a time of artistic splendor and political stability. The eighty years of the golden age (Felicia tempora, the heyday of the Roman Empire) are told through the lives of four emperors who were chosen because of their personal qualities. This led to an unprecedented balance of power between the army, the senate and the empire.
